Description

A Russian silver jam spoon or preserve spoon, dating from the 19th century.

The spoon has a rounded bowl, a long handle with twisted and faceted sections, and a small rounded terminal. The bowl is engraved with a decorative composition of leaves, small flowers and a central geometric cartouche. The design combines floral ornament with a more structured geometric motif, giving the piece a refined and distinctive appearance.

The form, size and relatively deep rounded bowl suggest use as a jam or preserve spoon, suitable for serving jam, berries in syrup, fruit preserves or other sweet accompaniments to the tea table.

The handle is marked with the Russian 84 zolotnik silver standard and additional maker’s / assay marks. The 84 zolotnik standard corresponds to high-grade Russian silver, approximately 875/1000. The maker’s mark is visible but should be confirmed by direct hallmark reference, as the marks are not fully legible from the photograph.
