Description

A Chinese Inspector General’s dagger of the Republic of China period, attributed to the WWII era.

The straight, pointed steel blade has a longitudinal fuller. The hilt features a mottled amber-and-dark grip bound with twisted wire, an ornate backstrap and a shaped crossguard. Foliate decoration appears across the metal fittings. White sun emblems are displayed on the pommel and the upper scabbard mount.

The dagger is accompanied by a steel scabbard with decorated metal mounts and a suspension loop. The blade shows surface marks and areas of staining; the steel body of the scabbard has visible oxidation and patina. Please refer to the photographs for details of condition.
