Description

An attractive European naval officer’s dress dirk dating to the 19th century, distinguished by its finely decorated brass fittings and elegant fluted grip.

The dirk features a straight, narrow steel blade with a pointed tip. The blade displays signs of age and use.

The light-coloured grip is carved with pronounced longitudinal flutes and finished with an ornamental brass pommel. The richly decorated brass crossguard features scrolling motifs and a central relief mask with radiating details.

The brass scabbard is embellished with engraved floral and foliate ornamentation. Two suspension rings are attached to the upper section, while the lower end terminates in a rounded brass finial.

The combination of the fluted grip, decorative crossguard and engraved brass scabbard gives the dirk an elegant ceremonial appearance characteristic of European naval dress weapons of the 19th century.

The precise country of manufacture has not been established.
