Jean Didier Début (1824-1893) bronze “Vercingetorix” the Gallic warlord that resisted Julius Ceasar’s Roman advance and was documented in Cesar’s Commentarii de Bello Gallico,  the base signed “DEBUT”and on the back of the base is a Paris foundry mark Vrai bronze B.D Paris. Circa 1880.
